When others who care about you make rules for you, they aren't trying to make your life more difficult or try and hurt you. It's the exact opposite! Since they love you, they want the best for you and teach you to make good choices. They want you to be safe, healthy, and happy.
But there are people like Monica Richter who continue to make bad choices. They think that what they want is best. They do what they think is right regardless of the rules or of what others say to help.
In the Bible, the book of Galatians compares the choices we make in life to seeds that we plant. The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others- ignoring God! - harvests a crop of weeds. All the person will have to show in life is weeds! But the one who plants while following God's Word and his commandments harvests a crop of real life, eternal life. That person gets God's blessings.
What a person plants, he will harvest.
God's laws are good. The longest poem in the Bible, Psalm 119, celebrates how great and wonderful it is to follow God's commandments. Grab a Bible, skim the poem, and see how happy a person can be rejoicing in the rules that God has made.
